I've been reluctant to write about this because I'm not interested in any kind of stupid backlash or people making ridiculous comments because they can't respect anyone's decisions but their own, or lack thereof. I've been eating vegan for about a week, because I've spent too many years just avoiding the reality of the implications of animal-eating, going through my days thinking that it's OK to eat meat and animal products, since most people do it, and it's not something that's going out of style anytime soon.

However, I have decided that it is a person-to-person decision that should be made in terms of self-concept and self-expression. My self is, at this time, not wanting to eat flesh. I think the decision will ultimately be a good one for me. Whether or not I decide to go all the way or slip down a notch to vegetarian remains to be seen, but for now I'm pretty happy with the decision.
